fatalism

June 14, 2007

i am fatalistic only in retrospect – not in prospect. that is, an event had to happen, if only for the reason that it did happen. i think that something may be decided as right or wrong only retrospect. a thing may be declared good or bad in advance of the actual event taking place. though as for right and wrong only time will tell.

all that is not simply is but something more must be - by which i mean that the state of affairs as one sees and has seen is only the visible eflux of the forces which move outside of our sensory perceptions. those forces are (without doubt) beyond our control. they are, however, not beyond our influence. if all that is just simply is then nothing would we be.
